The Idaho EMS medical director advises the Bureau regarding clinical matters. This includes protocols, scope of practice, and licensure investigations. The medical director chairs the clinical advisory group (CAG) and is an ex officio member of the time sensitive emergencies (TSE) council and the EMS advisory committee (EMSAC).

DEA Rule Changes – Effective March 09, 2026
- The DEA has released new EMS specific rules for obtaining, administering, and documenting Schedule II–V controlled substances. The “Registering Emergency Medical Services Agencies Under the Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017” rule goes into effect on March 09, 2026. EMS agency medical directors, system administrators, and personnel must familiarize themselves with these new DEA regulations to ensure continued compliance. Protocols Mobile App
- The Idaho Protocols mobile app can be downloaded for Android phones for free from the Play Store. iPhone users: Go to settings, then go to iTunes & App Store in the settings menu and scroll down until you see “Offload Unused Apps” and disable by turning off. Then install or reinstall the Paramedic Protocol Provider
